About Domenic Mercurio
A Worcester community leader fighting for real representation
Roots in Worcester
Domenic Mercurio grew up in Worcester, on the streets around Holmes Field, where he learned what it means to be part of a community that looks out for one another. That foundation of service and neighborhood pride has guided his career across business, public service, and community building.
Community Leadership
As Executive Director of the Worcester Public Market since 2019, Domenic oversees operations, leasing, and community integration of the 70,000 SF, $23 million non-profit market featuring 33 restaurants and food-based retail vendors in the heart of the Canal District.
Business and Entrepreneurship
Domenic founded the Worcester's Best Chef competition (running since 2007), and owns Tapa Vino European Tapas & Wine Bar and New England Burger Bah in the Worcester Public Market. He previously served as Publisher and Owner of Foodies of New England Magazine, distributed in over 2,300 stores across New England and New York.
Public Service Experience
Domenic's public service career began in the Massachusetts State Legislature as a Legislative Aide in both the Senate (1991-1993) and the House of Representatives (1993-1996), where he served as a liaison between constituents and state agencies on major infrastructure projects including the Massachusetts Turnpike/Rt. 146 Interchange and Union Station Revitalization.
He later served as Director of Development & Public Affairs for the Alliance for Education, managing a $1 million budget and raising over $1.2 million for public education programs including statewide literacy efforts and curriculum development grants.
Education
Domenic holds an MBA from Suffolk University (International Marketing & Finance, Dean's List, Delta Mu Delta) and a BSBA from Worcester State University (Business Management & Economics, Dean's List). He is fluent in Italian and conversational in Spanish.
Community Service
Domenic serves as Chancellor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel/Knights of Columbus, leading work with the Nazareth Home for Boys. He chairs the Culinary Advisory Committee at Tantasqua Regional Technical High School, is a member of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, and has served on boards including the Worcester County Deputy Sheriffs' Association and the National Conference for Community & Justice.
Why I'm Running
I'm Domenic Mercurio, and I'm running for State Representative because families across the 15th Worcester District from Holmes Field to Kelley Square and here at the YMCA in Main South deserve someone who has been here, who gets it, and who won't back down.
I'm not running because I think I have all the answers. I'm running because I know how to listen, how to work alongside our community, and how to fight for what's right. Our district deserves someone who will show up, be present, and never back down from the tough fights.
